The Work. In 2008, HAS Events and 521 Events worked with Russell Simmons’ Diamond Empowerment Fund and their development team to plan and execute the first formal fundraising gala for the New York based non-profit. Over 700 guests attended the celebrity filled event featuring live performances by the Dallas Black Dance Theatre, special presentations honoring Ervin Magic Johnson & Eva Longoria and a live experiences auction that helped raise $320,000. Held at Cityplace Towers on the 39th and 42nd Floors, HAS Events and 521 Events worked with over 100 different vendors, volunteers and event partners to make the event a success. Additional highlights of the evening included a five course meal prepared by some of Dallas’ top chefs, a Celebrity Gifting Suite experience and after-party with DJ Cassidy spinning and O’Neal McKnight taking the stage!
